Thoughts from a Solo Dev Studio

Blogging is Back, baby!

Hello there!

Inspired by posts out there from other game designers, I decided to revisit the blog format as a way to get thoughts out there about design, indie games, (technical) narrative design, and other things on my mind.

I already have a steady monthly newsletter that will highlight top-level studio news, I thought making something smaller, less polished, and more regular would be a productive outlet for me.

I really enjoyed making the devlogs for Bundle of Joy, and I want to use the blog as an opportunity to unpack that game more in the coming weeks. But I also felt like I needed some writing space to explore games I’ve been playing, design concepts, rants about teaching/work, and provide some perspective on making games as a Solo Developer.

So… expect semi-regular posts from me here, hopefully on a weekly basis, but who knows? I’ll cross-post them in the Essay Games discord and on our bsky, but hopefully, you’re old school like me and would consider subscribing to the RSS.

OK, a longer post will be forthcoming, but for now, it feels good to be back to blogging.
